Susan Hollen Joins Piper Shores as Environmental Services Director

 Piper Shores, Maine’s first and only nonprofit lifecare retirement community, today announced that Susan Hollen has been hired as the Environmental Services Director. Prior to joining Piper Shores, Hollen ran the Housekeeping Department at the Black Point Inn for 10 years. As the Environmental Services Director, Hollen is responsible for cleaning all 160 independent living apartments and 40 cottages at Piper Shores as well as 40 skilled nursing rooms and 20 assisted living apartments at Holbrook on a weekly basis.
“Susan brings the ability to manage a team of people and takes great pride in meeting resident satisfaction goals as our Environmental Services Director,” says Michael Bierley, Executive Director at Piper Shores. “With over 300 residents and large number of common areas at Piper Shores, Susan’s team has a lot of ground to cover each and every week. She and her team do a great job for the residents.”
Hollen’s team of sixteen (16) people also takes care of laundry services for Piper Shores as well the retirement community’s sizable recycling operation. “The residents at Piper Shores are big on recycling,” said Hollen. “During the month of August, for example, Piper Shores generated 2.93 tons of recycled material bringing the total to 25.12 tons for the year to date.”
Hollen also owns her own business in Buxton, Main Street Cutters, Inc., where she employs four (4) full-time stylists.
